Nuria Alcalde is Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Business Organization (Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Zaragoza) since 2003. Graduated in Economic and Business Sciences in June 1993, she got a research grant and joined to the Department in the same year. She received her PhD in Economic and Business Sciences in 2000.
Her research activity has focused on the study of corporate governance mechanisms in large companies, through the analysis of the functioning and effectiveness of external (market for corporate control) and internal (Boards of Directors) control mechanisms. Her scientific production has been positively evaluated by the CNEAI for 3 consecutive six year-periods since 1999. Among the most important publications at the international level are those published in the journals Research in International Business and Finance, Long Range Planning, Environmental and Planning A, European Management Journal, Review of Managerial Science or European Business Organization Law Review. She has also published papers in the main prestigious academic Spanish journals in Economics and Business, such as Investigaciones Económicas, Hacienda Pública Española, Revista Española de Financiación y Contabilidad, Moneda y Crédito or Economía Industrial.
She has acted as a reviewer in several national and international journals, reviewer in conferences, Expert Evaluator of Research Projects (ANEP), and Evaluator of the ACREDITA(MONITOR)-Doctorate program of ANECA. She also obtained a grant from the “Salvador de Madariaga” scholarship program of the Ministry, to finance a research stay of four months in 2018 at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Dublin. She has been a member of seven national competitive research projects and has also participated in several regional and local projects.
She has extensive teaching experience in various subjects of 1st and 2nd cycle and postgraduate (research and professional masters). In addition, she has supervised Final Degree Projects, Master's Degree Projects and two Ph. D. Doctoral Theses defended in 2003 and 2011. In the teaching field, she has participated in numerous innovation projects and took part of the teaching team that won the Santander Prize of the Banco Santander Chair of the University of Zaragoza for actions in the use of ICT in teaching innovation.
She has actively participated in University management, being a member of different commissions at Department and Faculty level and holding positions of responsibility (Deputy Director of the Department, Coordinator of the Degree in Business Administration and, currently, Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Management, Strategy and Marketing).
